Though Delnero Custom Kitchens currently builds hand-crafted furniture & custom kitchens out of over 25 different wood selections, Dad was correct in saying "no wood out there has the character of Northern White Pine." Mike & John built this set of Early American pine cabinets for their parent's guest home. These cabinets were built with all solid wood, and featured 5/4 thick dovetailed drawers, faces, sides, and door frames with free floating raised panels.

This Colonial pine kitchen can be found in one of our Danube showrooms. The door panels are flat with slight scoring on the glue joints, to give an old fashioned feel. Amerock antiqued copper handles and hinges adorn the doors and drawers.

In 1977 the Delnero family moved to Southampton, Mass. from Agawam, Mass. Our Agawam property was actually taken from us by Eminent Domain, so they could build a new 4 lane highway through where our home and shop stood. Though it didn't seem like it at first, this move was a blessing to our family. Dad and Mom bought The old Swazy Mansion, and with tons of work, turned it into a 23 room showroom full of our Early American furniture and cabinetry. There was two kitchens in this house, but this is the one we used the most. Dad and Gramps built these cabinets out of thick, wide planks of pine. They featured doors built on the table saw, with hand made raised panels. All dad's work was planed by hand in those days. We didn't purchase a thickness planner and door shaper until years after Dad retired!

In 1987 the Delnero Family helped Mike And Mary build their home. On a 9.6 acre parcel of land given to us from our parents from the family farm, we soon were in need of some Early American kitchen cabinets. We built the house to look 200 years old, with 18" wide pine floors and hand hewn beams. The cabinets were built out of solid 8/4" pine, and featured wrought iron hinges and porcelain knobs. We used matching blue panes of glass to the lights in the cris-cross doors. There was a cornice at the top of the upper cabinets where Mary displayed her collection of iron trivets. The custom made kitchen island held an old piece of marble we inherited from Dad's Uncle Steve Delnero. The island's bottom drawers held potatoes and onions.

This pine kitchen was built by Mike while the rest of the Delnero Family built this home. Built out of 5/4" pine, it featured deep raised paneled doors, H&L wrought hinges, and porcelain knobs. This kitchen had an attached island, which was quite popular in the 1960' through the 1980s. The island had cris-cross glass doors on two sides, so you could display items to be viewed from in the kitchen, and the adjacent dining room.
