Designed by Architect Chris Broda, for her own kitchen. This set of custom kitchen cabinetry was built with the clean modern lines inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement. Arts and Crafts Furniture is also popularly known as Mission Furniture.

All the doors and drawer faces are just 1/4" apart from one another, with no cabinet stiles or rails visible. This is called full overlap, and special European hinge hardware is used that is also not visible.

A shot of lower and upper cabinetry around the sink. We used solid quarter sawn red oak, and did a light stain coat of Early American. We then applied 4 coats of catalyzed varnish, hand rubbed between each coat. Simple high quality stainless handles adorn the doors and drawers. Chris did a beautiful job coordinating the colors of the granite counters, back splash tiling, and floor tile.

The kitchen space in their 100 year old Hartsdale English Tutor home posed some challenges. In one section of the kitchen was a narrow spaced area that was needed to be used to add storage. Chris designed a galley along this wall. Both the lower and upper cabinets needed to be only 9" deep. She also needed to be creative in the design of the upper cabinet crowns. A combination of design and bull nose profile made it nearly impossible to notice the ceilings were close to 2" off around the kitchen! At Delnero Custom Kitchens, we specialize in our ability to build to any specification desired.

A shot of a full height corner cabinet, that held the microwave oven, and also serves as a pantry. All the exposed ends of this custom cabinetry was built with frames and free floating panels. One feature that separates this kitchen from just about any other is, the use of full through tennons on every door, drawer face panel, and cabinet side or end frames. Square oak pins secure these joints, just as was done 200 years ago.
